Steel Magnolias Audition Info Actors will choose one character from either side 1 or side 2 and read for that character during the initial audition. Then we will have callbacks on the same day, and those who are called back should prepare to read for any of the six characters. Actors may hold a copy of their side while they audition.  This play takes place in Louisiana-the deep south. Please be prepared to read with a southern accent if you are able.
